Role Summary

The Occupational Therapist provides treatment to patients to support the development and rehabilitation of physical, cognitive, or emotional function. The goal is to restore and enhance patient independence and quality of life. Direct care providers must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy

Current Occupational Therapy license in good standing with the State of Michigan

Clinical experience preferred

BLS Certification (required within 3 months of hire)

Must pass MVR check and provide proof of valid auto insurance if driving for Bronson business

Keyboarding skills for PC/mobile device use

Effective communication in English

Strong interpersonal skills

Ability to work as part of a care team

Social sensitivity and professionalism

Physical Demands

Regular lifting of weights up to 50 lbs

Occasional assistance with heavier lifting or pushing

High levels of mental and visual concentration

Computer use up to 40% of time

Clinical Responsibilities

Evaluate patient function and therapeutic needs using standardized assessments

Set functional goals and plan treatment

Provide direct patient care aligned with treatment plan

Educate patients, families, and community members

Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and care planning

Develop programs and contribute to process improvement

Serve as a clinical resource and conduct inservices

May design/fabricate splints or assistive devices

May be cross-trained to other Rehabilitation departments

Administrative Responsibilities

Document evaluations, care plans, and treatments in the electronic health record

Maintain accurate and timely records for each person served

Communicate any documentation limitations to leadership

Participate in committees, task forces, and process improvement efforts

Demonstrate time management and organizational skills

Supervise COTA, OT students, clinical assistants, and volunteers
