Special Education Teacher

  POSITION: Special Education Teacher, 1.0 FTE, Moderate/Severe  

 LOCATION: Secondary

YEAR: 2025-2026 school year

RANGE: $61,136-$105,363 (Salary Placement up to 14 years for service credit)

BENEFITS: Medical, Dental, and Vision (100% cost provided by District up to Kaiser Family)

POSITION DESCRIPTION: All special education staff are District employees. Specific location TBD by Director of Special Education. Under the direction of the principal, provide core instruction to supplant general ed instruction.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: E=Essential Duties: Plan and provide individual and small group specialized academic instruction for District students with disabilities E; present activities that are developmentally appropriate for the students and are specially designed to conform with the student’s IEP E; provide identification, assessment and

remediation to district students with special education needs E; plan, develop and implement legally compliant IEP’s. E; evaluate student academic and social growth; maintain appropriate records; prepare progress reports; communicate with parents/staff about student progress E; observe and monitor children’s behavior and development in their environment; develop and oversee implementation of behavior plans, as appropriate E; plan and coordinate with regular education teachers to ensure classroom success for special education students E; supervise and train paraprofessionals to work with special needs students within the classroom E; provide necessary staff development at your site(s) E; provide training for parents to develop a partnership between student, school and home to ensure the success of the special needs student and to help parents understand the special needs of their children E; assist parents to seek and coordinate other services in their community that may be provided to their children by various agencies, such as Regional Center E; supervise students in and out of the classroom E; attend staff meetings and participate in in- service education workshops provided by the school, the District, the SELPA, or other self-selected professional growth activities E; perform other related duties as assigned E

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Valid California Special Education teaching credential (moderate to severe)
  2. English Learners Authorization
  3. Ability to work cooperatively with other staff members.
  4. Autism authorization
