Youth Ministry Intern Position
Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church of Lynchburg, Virginia, is seeking applicants to fill the position of Youth Ministry Intern within the church. The Youth Ministry Internship is designed to provide interns with firsthand ministry experience and to foster their personal ministry development. This position will collaborate with the Co-Pastors of the church, church members, and parents to minister to middle and high school-aged students.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- To model mature Christian faith and practice among the middle and high school students at Saint Andrew, developing appropriate God-centered relationships and encouraging them in their Christian growth.
- To assist in the religious education of students from a mainline Presbyterian theological understanding.
- To attend weekly youth group activities held during the school year (typically Sunday evenings), and to teach as needed at youth group meetings (approximately one per month)
- To assist with Discipleship Hour activities (10-11:00 am Sunday) in coordination with the Co-Pastor.
- To participate in Education Committee meetings as available, offering youth ministry experiences, ideas, and coordination.
- To regularly attend Sunday morning worship (9:00 am or 11:00 am) with the youth at Saint Andrew, modeling a commitment to congregational life and worship
- To share in the planning, preparation, and implementation of special youth worship services.
- To pray regularly for the students and student ministries of Saint Andrew.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 20 years of age
- Must complete a background check
- Must adhere to the Saint Andrew policies for the safety of the congregation and students
- Must have familiarity with the Scriptures and have the ability to articulate a personal statement of faith
- Must provide own transportation to/from church and/or planned activities
Commitment and Compensation
The Youth Ministry Intern is a part-time position during the school year.
September 1st through May 31st.

Compensation:
Compensation for this position will be in the form of a monthly stipend
Regular duties will require approximately 18 hours per month.
