Networking Lead Engineer

Undaunted Robotic Security

Networking Lead Engineer (Robotics)

Atlanta, GA (In-Person)

About Undaunted

We’re deploying robotic security to make communities safer so people can thrive. We are revolutionizing security technology from being purely responsive to being proactive, beginning to respond even before a crime occurs.

Backed by Atlanta Ventures, we’ve become the largest robotic security company in the Southeast in under a year. We have 50 robots sold, and we’re just getting started.

What You’ll Do

As the Networking Lead on our Hardware Engineering Team, you’ll take ownership of designing, prototyping, and scaling the networking and hardware-software integration systems that power our robotic security. Your role will evolve from rapid prototyping to overseeing full-scale production and manufacturing, ensuring our robots operate reliably at scale.

As an early-stage startup, our needs change rapidly, and we expect you to adapt when those situations arise, wear many hats, and be an ultimate team player. That said, we envision the following.

First 60–90 Days:

We’ve been using almost exclusively off-the-shelf hardware to this point. In your early months, you’ll work to migrate us towards more custom solutions. Your key priorities will be:

  • Building out a pipeline for secure audio/video livestream integration directly to police call centers (with potential integrations into partner technology, such as Flock Safety and Fusus / Axon)
  • Enabling AP hopping for our robot in conjunction with mesh Wifi networks
  • Solving internet connectivity challenges, ensuring 100% robot uptime

Next 3–6 Months:

  • Migrate away from our off-the-shelf livestreaming solution towards custom hardware and software to enable:
    • Controlling the robot via our dashboard using WebRTC
    • Livestream audio and video to our remote monitoring team
    • Event recording and storage to support: Customer-facing uses (review, sharing, telemetry), internal reporting/improvements, and training robotic autonomy models

 Beyond:

  • Setting a long-term networking strategy based on business needs, customer requests, and hardware/software roadmap
  • Ensuring security compliance for customers with specific requirements such as police departments or enterprise customers
  • Opportunity to touch our full engineering stack–whether it be hardware, software, robotics systems, or anything else where needs arise

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for someone who meets our company values:

  1. Mission First – We exist to make communities safer so people can thrive. Our technology is a tool for impact, and we never lose sight of that.
    • You have a track record of working on impactful projects.
    • You can articulate why our mission resonates with you personally.
  2. Passionate Ownership – Nothing is “not our job.” We challenge ourselves and our teammates to work harder and smarter because we care too much to settle for less.
    • You set high standards for yourself and others and are willing to share direct, candid feedback with others.
    • You're passionate about your ideas but open to changing your mind and committing to team decisions.
    • You are deeply invested in the things you spend your time on and you work harder than others to get it done right.
  3. Lead with Love – We operate with empathy and compassion for everyone our work touches. We support our team, uplift the communities we serve, and even recognize the humanity in those we deter.
    • You show up authentically, build lasting trust with teammates, support them through challenges, and rejoice in their successes.
    • You care about our broader social impact and seek to understand it more deeply over time.

Technical Expertise

  • Hands-On Builder: You take ideas from concept to working product—whether it’s hacking together a quick prototype or refining a system for real-world reliability.
  • Networking: Hands-on experience with
    • WebRTC, Websockets, or HTTPS livestreaming.
    • TCP/UDP or other networking protocols
    • GStreamer, Nginx, or other proxy server
    • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and BLE connectivity for microcontrollers

Nice-to-haves:

  • AWS, GCP, Render, Fly.io or other for cloud networking infrastructure
  • MQTT or other messaging protocol
  • Docker/Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration

  • Robotics & Electrical Engineering: Experienced in integrating cameras, sensors, and controllers with Raspberry Pi–based systems, including wiring, soldering, and real-world hardware deployment.

Other details:

We offer a competitive startup package for this networking systems engineer role, including:

  • $75,000 salary + benefits + equity. No relocation bonuses are available.
  • Location: In-person working at our offices in South Downtown Atlanta (at the new Atlanta Tech Village Sylvan)
  • No prior experience is required. An engineering (electrical, systems, computer) or computer science background is preferred, but not required.
