Graduate Assistant for Technology Administration

Candidates must be accepted into one of the Graduate Programs here at Lander University prior to beginning the position.

Compensation: 

Selected candidate will receive a 50% tuition and fee waiver as well as a $3000 stipend per semester. Note that if the GA position does not relate directly to their graduate studies the student will be taxed on the stipend and tuition benefits. Graduate Assistants work approximately 20 hours per week during the school year. Graduate Assistantships may be renewed for one additional year.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • The Technology and Administrative Support Assistant in the CIO’s Office provides support to the Office of Information Technology while gaining professional experience in higher education IT administration. Under the guidance of the CIO and/or designated staff, the graduate assistant helps with assigned tasks such as gathering information, assisting with small IT-related projects, tracking basic project updates, and supporting departmental initiatives. The role will also assist with the preparation of the IT newsletter by helping collect updates, draft content, and organize communications to the campus community. Additional responsibilities may include research, documentation, and other support activities that contribute to the effectiveness of the CIO’s office and the IT department.

 

  • Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge and interest of common microcomputer applications, such as word processing and spreadsheet, multimedia tools, and the use of the Internet. Strong organizational skills; strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to establish and maintain cooperative and harmonious working relationships with a variety of campus constituencies. The successful Graduate Assistant will gain very valuable hands-on experience working for a modern Information Technology Office while serving as team member.
