Geotechnical Engineer – Engineering Support Specialist

HMI Company is seeking a motivated Geotechnical Engineer to join our in-house Engineering Support Program. As part of HMI’s Engineering Support Team, you’ll play a vital role in helping contractors and engineers solve complex geotechnical problems using HMI’s diverse polymer and chemical product line. Your work will directly impact infrastructure rehabilitation and soil improvement across a wide range of industries, from transportation and utilities to commercial and industrial development.

Key Responsibilities

• Examine geotechnical reports, soil boring logs, soil test results, and other available information to assess site conditions.
• Develop project specific repair strategies for slabs, roadways, structures, and other infrastructure.
• Design and specify solutions utilizing HMI’s polymer and chemical product line.
• Create technical specifications, proposals, and training materials.
• Support contractors with project designs, estimates, and field questions.
• Conduct research and development on existing and experimental products, focused on geotechnical applications.
• Educate engineers, contractors, and invested parties on HMI products and applications, helping close technical knowledge gaps and promote proper use.
• Present at seminars and contribute content to promote HMI products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Preferred Experience (Not Required)

• PE license.
• Understanding of distressed structure/foundation remediation.
• Experience with grouting (design and/or application).
• Experience conducting settlement, bearing capacity, and slope stability analyses.
• Proficient with geotechnical software (e.g., Slide2, Plaxis2D, LPile, DeepEX, AutoCAD, and similar tools).
