We are currently seeking a Power Electronics Design Engineer to join our development team to help expand our product offering. Our ideal candidate has a strong background IGBT, Silicon Carbide MOSFET and GaN drive design. We are willing to consider candidates with wide range of backgrounds and experience. The position will be located in Franksville, WI.
Position Overview:
This position will design, implement and maintain the various schematics and firmware algorithms for printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) required for operating precision variable frequency drives (VFDs).
Job Responsibilities:
- Design high voltage PCBAs used in controlling power flow (VFDs, Converters, Regens, etc.)
- Gate Driver Modules
- Voltage Feedback
- Capacitor & Bus Structure Design & Analysis
- Heatsink Thermal Design & Analysis
- Output Filter Design & Analysis
- Conduct and participate in design reviews
- Work with Mechanical CAD designer to create 3D Models of the products
- Work with Electrical designer to create Schematics of the products
- Work to reduce the overall size of existing products
- Work with Production to develop proper build instructions
- Work with UL to obtain proper certifications
- Work with sourcing team to reduce cost of existing products
- Work with sourcing team to stay ahead of obsolescence issues
- Interact and guide Test Engineers as needed
- Adhere to established processes and revision control standards
- Solicit and incorporate customer and end user feedback to further improve our products
- Respectfully champion new ideas and features, big or small
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS in Electrical Engineering (Power Electronics) or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Master’s degree preferred.
- 10+ years’ experience in IGBT power electronics design (IGBT, SiC and GaN experience preferred)
- Experience working with PCB layout designers, high voltage signals, and constraints for designs
- Knowledge of designing PCBs to meet EMI/EMC requirements
- Organized with the ability to multi-task
- Ability to work independently and consistently meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and listening) and the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse group of professionals
- Strong attention to detail, follow-up skills
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to effectively influence others
