Administrative Intern

The Position: 

As our administrative intern, you’ll help the firm survive the busy season while having the opportunity to put into action what you’ve already learned in the classroom. Our goal is to provide you with an internship experience that is educational, valuable, and useful. Because of the demands of tax season, the position will include client service and administration duties as well as some tax return preparation.
 

Client Service/Administrative Tasks

> Assisting with the tax return intake process and routing returns to the appropriate preparer

> Assembling completed tax returns

> Scanning/organizing documents at the request of senior team members

> Supporting receptionist and office manager with administrative duties as needed

 

Income Tax Preparation

> Individual tax returns

  • Scanning/organizing client documents
  • Entering information into tax software
  • Communicating with the client regarding any missing information
  • Double checking work for completeness and accuracy
  • Conducting tax-related research when needed

> Other tax-related projects

  • Payroll tax reporting (1099s, W-2s, etc.)
  • Bookkeeping
     

Required Qualifications & Competencies

> Working toward a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Business Administration or related business fields such as Finance, Accounting, Management, etc.

> Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, and electronic

> Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)

> Character expectations focus upon integrity, work ethic, professionalism, and problem-solving

 

“Gold Stars” Given for: 

> GPA of 3.0 or higher

> Working knowledge of accounting and tax law

> Familiarity with QuickBooks (Desktop & Online)
