Quality Engineering Intern

Title:     Quality Engineering Intern           

 

Reports to:         Director of Quality

The Opportunity

As a Quality Engineering Intern, you will have the opportunity to learn all aspects of injection molding and contract manufacturing as it relates to Quality Control methodologies, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, Statistical Process control and tool design.

 

Qualifications / Skills

  • 3rd or 4th year student matriculated in an engineering program at an accredited University.
  • Superior math, analytical, and mechanical capability.
  • Strong computer ability, MS office applications.
  • 3D CAD experience, Solidworks preferred.
  • Disciplined communication, organization, and presentation skills.
  • Able to remain in a stationary position for at least 4 hours at a time.
  • Able to move up to 50 lb objects for a distance of at least 20 feet.

Highly Desirable:

  • Bilingual (Spanish Preferred).
  • Injection molding knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Ability to handle mechanical tools and measuring equipment; calipers, drills, basic hand tools, etc.

 

Position Responsibilities / Essential Functions: 

The Quality Engineering Intern will perform various quality functions as it relates to statistical analysis, work instruction development, gage design, and process review to progress, develop and maintain improvement driven quality projects.

The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to, supporting the following:

  • Maintain and develop engineering and production level work instructions and maintenance plans.
  • Develop and maintain new and existing Quality Control Plans and methods.
  • Complete inspection fixtures from design phase to production handoff.
  • Design and implement new GO/NO GO Gaging to replace current inspection.
  • Investigate and improve root cause of QC and production floor-related issues and concerns.
  • Support Quality Team in data collection and analysis for on-going processes.
  • Performing other tasks as instructed by the Director of Quality, and other members of the Quality Team.
