Compensation:
Hours: Up to 24 hours per week. Flexible Hours between 7am to 7pm & 7pm to 7 am and to include weekends and holidays as needed.
Position Summary: The position is a professional who will assist with the operations of the shelter. This position will provide trauma informed direct and indirect services to victims of domestic violence.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Advocacy Responsibilities:
- Answers the 24-hour crisis hotline.
- Enrolls victims of domestic violence into the shelter program.
- Provide case management to shelter residents and establish case planning during their shelter stay.
- Meet with the client to assist with Client Goals for housing, other means of support, and safety.
- Provides assistance with obtaining employment and secure housing.
- Provides community resources to residential clients.
- Ensure a Compass Account has been established for clients receiving the above government services or in need of services.
- Updates the Client Management System(s) with services provided and case notes in a timely manner.
- Refers clients to internal services such as counseling, legal advocacy, and outreach, reviewing each service with the clients.
- Creates a personal safety plan with each client and depart clients with necessary surveys and documentation required.
- Provide follow up services to all clients (If applicable)
- Ensure Financials are submitted to the administrative office in a timely manner for the clients.
- Report all incidents within 24 hours in writing to the Shelter Supervisor to ensure a written report is submitted per CJCC and the incident filed in the client’s file.
- Ensure safety of the shelter to avoid hazard conditions and report updates to the Director and Supervisor immediately in writing.
- Disseminate and remind clients of shelter activities promoting and encouraging clients to attend.
- Assist volunteers with their task and ensure they feel welcomed.
- Maintain a network with other service providers and act as a referral for information resources.
- Provide Client Direct Services such as meal preparation, childcare and transportation as needed.
- Ensure Shelter Guidelines are followed and follow the disciplinary actions as needed.
Other Responsibilities:
- All other duties assigned by management.
- Advocate responsible for participating in our Strategic Plans as assigned and ensure departure files are updated in HMIS. Ensure Bed night staff services are accurately entered into system daily.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field.
Physical Responsibilities:
- Physically able to lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds.
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational skills, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Decision making skills.
- Exceptional computer skills in Microsoft suites (word & excel)
- Capable of working independently.
- Valid driver’s license
- Privately owned automobile with liability insurance and a willingness to utilize own vehicle in job performance.
- Ability to relate to individuals of all socio-economic levels, races, religions, creeds, and nationalities.
- Able to demonstrate empathy, sensitivity, and good judgment when dealing with resident issues.
