Description

We are seeking a motivated Associate Research Scientist/Scientist 1 to join the NGS team of Mechanistic Disease Discovery Research group to perform and develop NGS workflow assays to support immune-oncology drug discovery and translational researches. Candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining NGS equipment, interacting with multiple databases, completing projects in a timely fashion, research and development and giving presentations. This position will be located at our state-of-the-art research facility in Redwood City, CA.

Responsibilities

• Operation of different genomics analysis technologies such as NGS liquid-handler and sequencers, real time PCR, Bioanalyzer for quantification, QC and validation.
• Develops, validates, and applies methods for various genomic and transcriptomic sequencing methods.
• Processes nucleic acid isolation and quantification as needed.
• Works with senior and junior members of the team, instrument vendors and IT group to create new workflows that are robust, cost-effective and time efficient.
• Accurately and consistently records experimental methods, materials and results in electronic laboratory notebooks. Analyzes data, evaluates results, forms conclusions, and determines future experiments.
• Presents findings or project status reviews at internal seminars/meetings.
• Establishes and maintains productive relationship with personnel in development; orients and trains other scientists on-site and peers as needed.

Qualifications

• BA/BS, MS or Ph.D in Molecular Biology or other biology background with strong knowledge of Molecular Biology.
Hands-on experience performing real time PCR, NGS library prep and biochemistry assay development or other molecular biology methods.
• Experience with Illumina instruments such as HiSeq, Nextseq, MiSeq and Quantstudio is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to collaborate in a dynamic and innovative research environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
