INTERN - Marketing & Member Relations Internship

Western Farmers Electric Cooperative (WFEC) has a Marketing Internship opportunity in our Marketing & Member Relations department at our office in Moore, Ok. To be eligible for the Internship you must be a full-time student at a college or university with a declared Marketing or Communications major. The internship will take place during the summer months (mid-May to mid-August). The hourly rate offered for this internship will be based off of student classification. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain exposure and knowledge in the marketing and communication field. 
WFEC, is an electrical Generation and Transmission company headquartered in Anadarko, Oklahoma. Member-owners consist of 21 distribution cooperatives, which, in turn, serve the total electric needs to three-fourths of the state of Oklahoma and parts of New Mexico. Our internship is designed to assist in our Marketing & Member Relations Department. 
Internship Outline of Duties, Responsibilities, and Opportunities  
Marketing Duties
  • Assist Marketing Coordinator with annual Emerging Technology Conference. Duties to include:Soliciting and tracking sponsorships for conference
  • Assisting with organizing event details
  • Organizing and assembling attendee packets, golf tournament prizes, etc.
  • Other duties related to conference planning as assigned
  • Field duties with each Marketing Representative to include:
  • Manager, Marketing & Member RelationsEducation with WFEC staff and distribution cooperatives to learn about Marketing programs relating to Electric Vehicles, solar and wind generation
  • Put together marketing project relating to intern's field of study
  • C&I Marketing ManagersVisit WFEC distribution cooperatives to learn about the marketing programs at those cooperatives
  • Assist with projects related to WFEC's energy efficiency programs and website
  • Assist in promotion and research of the electric vehicle program, solar and wind program
  • Provide assistance with various projects for distribution cooperatives as required 
Communications/PR Duties
  • Assist with updating WFEC Marketing/Key Accounts website
  • Assist with identifying and researching Key Account PR and newsletter story opportunities
  • Update and organize information and communications for Key Account Toolkit
  • Work with scheduling and organizing WFEC Electric Vehicle booth at Cooperative's Annual Meetings
  • Assist in updating WFEC Board App
General Office Duties
  • Assist with wide range of assigned clerical tasks
  • Filing, organizing, assembling packets and distributing information to cooperatives and partners, making copies, shredding, assembling materials for presentation and mailings, data entry, general clerical tasks
  • Assist with organizing office suite and storage area
  • Conduct annual inventory of logo room items and keep inventory stocked
  • Assist employees and Board members in logo room 
Skills & Proficiencies
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint preferred
  • Ability to research, organize and report using traditional resources as well as the internet
  • Analytical skills
  • Must be organized, efficient and able to multitask
  • Proficiency in using Email & conducting Internet research
  • Self-directed project management skills are a plus
  • Excellent people and customer service skills. This position involves a great deal of personal interaction with customers and members.
  • Sales and fundraising experience preferred
  • Experience in Photoshop, Adobe PageMaker or InDesign, and Macromedia Dreamweaver preferred 
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Requires a current driver's license.
