C4ISR Systems Division Deputy Director
We are seeking applicants for the new role of C4ISR Systems Division Deputy Director. The C4ISR Systems Deputy Director will establish and maintain strong relationships with division customers and partners; develop and maintain adequate and accountable resources to pursue follow-on and new business opportunities; help create and sustain a shared vision of division goals and objectives; monitor internal/external operations and act on problems/opportunities; be an authoritative source of information about all division activities; encourage goals and mentoring; and participate in organizational meetings, contributing to the strategic plan and direction of the Laboratory. This person will report to the C4ISR Systems Division Director.
The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL), a University Affiliated Research Center, has been developing innovative technologies and solutions for cutting-edge DoD and intelligence programs for six decades. Our expertise is in space and airborne IR, VIS, UV, and RF sensors, small satellite technologies, test and calibration, cybersecurity, data visualization and assurance, and ground stations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor program execution and risk management, ensuring programs are on-cost, on-schedule, achieving objectives
- Support the coordination of division resources, staffing, and facility needs
- Directly supervise division personnel and provide leadership functions including mentoring, training, motivating, appraising, rewarding, balancing workload, and team building
- Help interview, recruit, and retain top talent, assisting with HR processes as needed
- Provide stewardship over divisional technology areas, focusing on personnel and capability development to ensure a stream of innovative high-value products and services
- Develop and implement division strategy, including strategic roadmaps, division goals, IR&D, and customer development
- Organizational-level reporting and escalation as required, including status reports and operations review support
- Direct support and leadership for business development activities including proposal support and approvals, customer visits, technical conferences, and marketing materials
Required Qualifications:
- BS in a related field
- 10 or more years of experience
- Previous experience leading a project or team
- Ability to comprehend and respond to engineering requirements
- Effective communicator and presenter
- Sound analytical skills with ability to identify and grasp business issues and opportunities and link to overall business strategies
- Able to travel, sometimes frequently
- Models a strong work ethic
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (SDL)
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS or PhD in a related field
- Experience and expertise in software engineering, signal processing, system integration, flight tests, fielding, cyber technologies, and/or hardware systems modernization
- Currently active/known in the C4ISR community; publication(s) a plus
- Previous experience leading a team of teams
- Active TS/SCI w/Polygraph
