Long Island, NY- Environmental Advocate (Hiring for FT/PT & Paid Summer Interns)

Background of CCE:
With a 35 year history in using people power to hold organizations and politicians accountable to the citizens they serve, Citizens Campaign for the Environment is committed to continuing a tradition of success with our grassroots education and campaigning. We are looking for folks who are passionate about being the leaders in making a difference in Long Island environmental politics.

What we're working on:
Currently, we are fighting for NY to ban toxic pesticides so we can save our pollinators. It is critical that we stop using pesticides that are toxic to honey bees, birds and other pollinators in NYS. As part of our power-in-numbers approach, we are rallying neighborhoods together to urge the Governor and our state representatives to pass the Birds and Bees Protection Act (A. 7639 / S. 5816) in order to prohibit the use of neonicotinoids and fipronil in NYS.

  • Interested in environmental issues, non-profit work, grassroots organizing, politics, and/or social justice issues.

This position is perfect for students and non-students alike, with opportunities for long-term growth. For students looking for an internship, it is a paid internship position, and is available for spring, summer, and fall semesters, as well as winter and spring breaks (flexible start/end dates.)
For non-students, this is available as a year-round, full time position.

Responsibilities:
We are looking for individuals who have the passion and leadership qualities to effectively motivate our neighbors towards making a difference in New York environmental policies through:
  • Door-to-door grassroots campaigning, organizing, and empowering
  • Petition signature collection, public comment generation, and fundraising
  • Creating and maintaining a professional, positive, and productive work environment

Hours:
  • Full time: Monday-Friday, 2-10pm
  • Part time: Any 3-4 Weekdays, 2-10pm
  • Must Have availability for a minimum of 3 full 8 hour shifts per week

Compensation:
  • $540-640 per week for full time
