Ask Me Another Intern (Remote) - Fall 2020

NPR’s Fall 2020 Internship Program will be fully remote. 
Program Duration: September 8 - December 11, 2020
What happens when you combine nerdy quizzes with celebrity guests, music and comedy, and add a live audience for good measure? NPR’s Ask Me Another. Heard on 390 stations with an audience of more than 1.5 million people (and counting), Ask Me Another is one of public radio’s fastest-growing shows. We’re looking for the right person to help us keep growing our diverse creative team. If you’ve got smarts, know way too much about pop culture, and have an ear for radio and a nose for funny, we want to meet you.  
INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with all aspects of production of Ask Me Another
  • Research and write prep materials for celebrity guest interviews 
  • Draft web writing and promotional writing for new Ask Me Another episodes
  • Fact-check and proof-read scripts
  • Assist in generating ideas for games, jokes, scripts
  • Assist in social media strategy and execution
WHO CAN APPLY?
  • LOCATION: Must be planning to work during the term of the Fall 2020 internship in the United States and authorized to work in the United States. 
  • EDUCATION: Must be a current student in an accredited degree program or a recent graduate of no more than 12 months from the month of the start of the internship. 
  • TECHNOLOGY: Must have access to a personal computer, phone, and reliable internet.
REQUIRED SKILLS 
  • Excellent communication skills, especially during high-pressure situations.
  • Superb writing and research skills, and an attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure. Ability to multitask.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Experience in and understanding of radio broadcasting, especially live radio
  • Digital media skills, including proficiency in social media and video production
  • Experience in event production, management or coordination
  • Interest in puzzles, trivia, word games, and pop culture
  • Comedic and creative writing background a plus
