Audience Insights Intern (Remote) - Fall 2020

NPR’s Fall 2020 Internship Program will be fully remote. 
Program Duration: September 8 - December 11, 2020
Interested in first-hand exposure to media research and strategy? Consider an internship with the Audience Insights (AI) division, which acts as an internal research consultant to all NPR departments.
The AI Intern assists the AI staff with all aspects of research for NPR, including programming, digital media, and corporate sponsorship research. A typical day may include using our databases to determine reach & frequency of a sponsorship campaign, coding open-ended responses to a survey about a new program, or analyzing Google Analytics metrics for our website.
INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Working closely with staff from across the organization to bring audience insights into the center of decision making
  • Analyzing listener habits and demographics
  • Programming surveys
  • Coding survey data
  • Supporting the corporate sponsorship sales teams by providing data on campaign reach and audience profiles
  • Becoming proficient with data sources/tools like Nielsen Audio, Google Analytics, comScore, MRI
WHO CAN APPLY?
  • LOCATION: Must be planning to work during the term of the Fall 2020 internship in the United States and authorized to work in the United States. 
  • EDUCATION: Must be a current student in an accredited degree program or a recent graduate of no more than 12 months from the month of the start of the internship. 
  • TECHNOLOGY: Must have access to a personal computer, phone, and reliable internet.
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Keen ability to synthesize and present information (written and graphic)
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Respect for deadlines
PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Experience with Excel and PowerPoint for presenting data
  • Experience with marketing research
  • Experience with SPSS and Google Analytics is a plus
