Research Assistant

Job Overview:
Celltheon is looking for a qualified Intern to assist Celltheon senior scientists with day-to-day molecular biology experiments. Training for this position will be provided to the employee on-the-job. This individual should be receptive to training provided by senior scientists and display a curiosity for science.

The first three months of employment will be considered an internship period during which the Intern will shadow a senior scientist to learn basic lab techniques and procedures while helping with routine lab duties. Once the scientist feels the Intern is ready, the Intern will be given small experiments to assess their technique. If after 3 months of training the Intern is confident and their technique is acceptable, the position of Research Assistant will be extended to the employee and they will be assigned experiments to conduct independently.

Responsibilities:
- Execute cloning projects to create recombinant expression vectors
- Experiments include PCR, bacterial transformation, DNA preparation and extraction, and various cloning techniques (i.e: gibson assembly, restriction digest, etc.).
- Maintain detailed lab notebooks to document all experimental data and procedures
- Effectively communicate with supervisor to provide project updates and
- General lab duties: Preparing agar and pouring plates,

Qualifications:
- Must have at least a Bachelor’s degree
- Able to use Microsoft Office (i.e: Excel, PowerPoint) and perform basic arithmetic
- Has a positive attitude and can take direction from senior employees
- Must be flexible in order to handle new tasks and experiments as required
- Able to learn quickly and perform tasks independently once trained
- Should have strong organizational skills and should be detail-oriented
- Should be able to commit to a long-term position
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and work safely with chemicals
