Environmental Communications Coordinator

The EPA National Student Services Contract has an immediate opening for a full-time contractor position; Environmental Communications Coordinatorwith the Office of Research and Development at the EPA facility in Washington, DC 
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Master’s grad to collaborate with EPA’s research team. Research experience includes:
·       Analyzing, synthesizing, and developing conclusions from scientific and technical data and information, and present findings;
·       Assisting in the development of scientific issue papers;
·       Working with staff on intra and inter-agencies to draw on, coordinate, and communicate the expertise of scientists, engineers, and policy advisors; and
·       Networking and exploring many career paths at EPA.
Location: This job will be located at EPA’s facility in Washington, DC.
Salary: $23.26 per hour.
Travel: Occasional overnight travel may be required.
Required Skills:
·       Experience with administrative procedures/practices, strong analytical skills and experience with information technology.
·       Strong communication skills (i.e., written, oral, telephone etiquette, presentation abilities), including effective multi-media technical communications.
·       Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, SharePoint and Project) and the internet.
·       Experience in Adobe applications (i.e., Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat and Flash).
·       Ability to handle pressure and multi-task in a fast-paced environment driven by deadlines and changing schedules.
·       Initiative to handle and complete tasks above and beyond the requirement.
·       Independent judgments to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified workload.
·       Interpersonal skills on a high level in order to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
·       Excellent proof reading and editing skills
What the EPA project is about
The Office of Science Advisor, Policy and Engagement (OSAPE) is responsible for the Agency’s official Scientific Integrity policy and human subject research review, as well as overseeing and managing: intra-agency science coordination, the Action Development Process leadership, the Regional Science Program, Tribal Science, External Advisory Boards, and EPA extramural research support and partnerships (including research grants and partnerships, challenges, and prizes). Within OSAPE, the Extramural Research and Partnerships Division (ERPD) provides leadership for and coordination of ORD’s extramural research grants and partnerships with EPA’s programs and regions, tribes, other federal agencies, and key external stakeholders.

Qualifications                    
·       Be at least 18 years of age and
·       Have earned at least a Master’s degree in one of the following disciplines: Life or physical sciences, engineering, or policy disciplines and experience relevant to the environmental and/or, human health fields of study from an accredited university or college within the last 24 months and
·       Be a citizen of the United States of America or a Legal Permanent Resident.
