Associate Scientist/Scientist, Health Care Analytical - Lab Computing and Measurement Science

Begin a meaningful career right here.

Are you passionate about solving tough challenges? In this role you will use your Analytical skills to find creative solutions for consumer's everyday problems! If this sounds like fun, we would love to hire someone with your skills and abilities to join our R&D organization.

Analytical delivers critical data and knowledge through instrumentation that depends on computerized systems for instrument control as well as acquisition, processing, transmission, and archival of data. Leveraging our scale requires an expert dedicated to maximizing the reliability and function of this digital infrastructure in a highly regulated environment. As such, we are seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist/Scientist to join the Health Care Analytical organization to lead, grow, deploy and maintain the lab computing and digital infrastructure that underlies the measurement capabilities of both Oral and Personal Health Care Analytical at Mason Business Center in Mason, Ohio. In this position you will also take on measurement science responsibilities driving further synergies between Analytical capabilities and Digital innovation. Without an effective ‘lab computing’ backbone, our laboratories will be inefficient, and the integrity of our data could be at risk.

The Health Care Analytical digital infrastructure owner will co-create, lead and implement programs assuring sufficiency of lab computing systems—focusing on programs that are data-intensive and span both the Oral and Personal Health Care Analytical groups. Specific roles include, but are not limited to, enabling the deployment of next generation innovative digital solutions for Health Care Analytical (e.g. Nexus/LabVantage, Veeva, etc.), leading upgrades of lab computers (e.g., new Windows versions), partnering with capability leaders to further enable lab connectivity/ automation, driving the exit of legacy systems, and improving the infrastructure for data capture/ integrity as well as computer system validation. In this position, it is expected that you will identify additional IT-related needs and opportunities for Analytical by understanding where we are vulnerable or by seeing where new tools could improve effectiveness/efficiency as well as quality/compliance.
Responsibilities will grow to include building in-depth knowledge of Oral Care products and formulations, proficiency in relevant methods/techniques, method development/validation, proactively partnering with project teams and Analytical colleagues to meet project objectives/timings and designing/executing experiments. Substantial opportunities also exist to further develop your network and analytical measurement expertise across other instruments/techniques.

We are looking for someone with a Bachelor or Master degree in the field of Computer Science and/or Chemistry or at least five years experience in a closely related field.
    * Mastery in both digital innovation and analytical chemistry. Technical curiosity and a desire to continually learn and develop mastery across digital innovation and analytical methods/techniques is required.
    * Proven track record of cross functional collaboration is a must. The successful candidate will need to form productive, collaborative relationships with partners across various R&D functions to lead/execute HC digital innovation and OC project deliverables. The individual will leverage his/her internal and external networks to help drive innovation, enable problem solving and reapply best practices.
    * A strong record of innovation working with R&D partners and lab personnel to understand key needs and providing/implementing solutions to complex problems; capable of providing digital innovation/measurement science leadership for the team and designing/implementing an action plan to deliver robust solutions.
    * Effective oral/written communication skills are needed, including the ability to document/share critical insights/observations/results, provide clear/concise technical updates/presentations to those not familiar with the technologies that Analytical uses and the ability to pull together deployment, training, and communication plans related to digital innovation programs. Excellent record keeping and note-booking skills are also required.
    * A history of driving projects to success through proactive leadership. The candidate should be comfortable with taking ownership/initiative and independence, leading by example, operating with discipline and working with a sense of urgency.
    * A strong commitment to genuine learning and good science is necessary. This role requires the individual to operate with a high level of attention to detail and technical rigor across Health Care Analytical. The individual should have the ability to work on multiple projects/deliverables at any given time and be able to adapt to changing priorities while consistently delivering against commitments with excellence. Experience in cGMPs and test method validation/stability requirements for FDA regulated products is a plus but not required.
    * Mastery in lab computing as related to analytical chemistry; working knowledge of analytical chemistry; flexibility; leadership; project management; collaboration/ communication skills; a focus on results; a sense of urgency; and strong critical thinking. Some experience in coding, system design, working with outside digital innovation providers, and optimizing systems are valuable, along with knowledge of systems validation. Strong technical laboratory skills, attention to detail and technical curiosity are all highly desired.
