Human Resources Spring Intern

The Congressional Budget Office is a small nonpartisan agency that provides economic and budgetary analysis to the Congress. CBO’s Human Resources (HR) Office seeks a semester intern whose term could extend into the summer. The intern will report to the Chief Human Resources Officer and work with a close-knit, five-person HR team. Responsibilities will be varied, providing the intern with experience in an array of HR functions. The intern will take on substantive projects working with human resources information systems as well as compensation, federal benefits, recruitment and onboarding, or personnel records management.
Qualifications:
Candidates working toward a graduate degree in human resource management, industrial organizational psychology, business, or a related field are preferred. Undergraduate students in their senior year who are enrolled in a program in one of those fields will also be considered.
Candidates should have a strong work ethic, be able to handle multiple tasks at once, and be able to finish projects under tight deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to deal discreetly with confidential information are required. Candidates should also be flexible and able to work well as a part of a team. Training or experience in human resources is desirable but not required.
Salary and Benefits:
The hourly salary ranges from $16 to $24 (amounts change annually) and will be commensurate with educational attainment and related experience. The selected candidate will be expected to work up to 20 hours per week, which may be scheduled around courses.
