Radiological Auditor
The Auditing Programs Unit provides auditing, surveillance, and evaluation of the site's radiological, safety and health, and environmental performance. This position will focus on the independent assessment of radiological related regulatory compliance and risk management. The auditor will also be required to perform field surveillance of in process work and facility conditions. The auditor will issue reports that documents findings from audits, evaluations, and surveillance and trend organizational strengths and weakness. The candidate will, at times, assist the Environmental and Safety and Health Auditors. Performs development and/or follow of programs or projects to ensure compliance with operational, design, regulatory, and Program requirements. Examples include performing work document reviews, engineering evaluations, or analyses to support assigned tasks. Provide subject matter expertise in regulated areas such as environmental, safety, and health, waste management, waste management, emergency planning and fire protection to personnel to support safe and compliant execution of work activities. Work may include providing interface, independent oversight, and assessment of subcontractor, and vendor facility operations, material evaluations, design reviews, development of engineering methods, major site system and facility operations. Preparation and maintenance of records and reports to meet regulatory and Program requirements, evaluate and assess site performance, perform surveillance, clarify and implement regulatory requirements, prepare, review and approve technical work procedures and identify improvements to existing processes. May lead or provide support for inspections and interface with outside regulatory agencies. The auditor will interface with personnel on all levels of the organization from the production workforce through senior management. The auditor must be able to thoughtfully and confidentially communicate problems to senior management. Maintaining radiological qualifications is required because audits and surveillances may be performed in radiological areas.
Required Skills *
Intermediate:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical, engineering or science-related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience; or
- Master’s degree in a degree in a technical, engineering or science-related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of one year of relevant experience; or
- Currently or previously EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or
- SRE Qualification
Advanced:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical, engineering or science-related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years of relevant experience; or
- Master’s degree in a degree in a technical, engineering or science-related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience; or
- Currently or previously NPE qualified or CTE/ACRS and one year of EOOW in the Nuclear Operations Program; or
- Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and one year as SRE
Intermediate/Advanced:
- The ability to maintain radiological qualifications to perform duties in radiological areas.
Preferred Skills
- The ability to work independently.
- Strong communication skills. The ability to communicate, both written and verbal within all levels of an organization to affect positive change.
- Previous Certified Quality Auditor from American Society for Quality or similar background or experience.
- Previous Radiological Experience.
