Mechanical Engineer

The Construction Engineering organization has an opening for a Project Engineer (PE) knowledgeable in mechanical engineering. The PE is the technical lead on projects in construction execution and assists during project design to ensure compliance with all relevant project requirements. The PE prepares technical documents, estimates costs, and conducts field inspections. Typical projects include new office buildings, security infrastructure, and site infrastructure upgrades. The Construction Engineering organization is a multi-disciplined group of civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers. The PE works within a project execution team environment with a Project Manager, Project Analyst, Contract Administrator, Construction Oversight personnel, and other Engineers to deliver needed infrastructure at the Naval Reactors Facility located on the Idaho National Laboratory site. 

Required Skills *

Intermediate:
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience; or
  • MS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university and a minimum of one year of relevant experience.
 
Advanced:
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years of relevant experience; or
  • MS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Skills

Knowledge of infrastructure design and construction. 
Some experience with construction cost estimating. 
Knowledge of industry and building trade practice, techniques, codes, and standards. 
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Proficiency computer aided design (CAD) drafting software  
Able to work independently and handle multiple tasks concurrently. 
Have effective oral and written communication skills and be able to effectively interact with all levels of personnel, management, subcontractors, and government oversight.
Minimum GPA of 3.2/4.0 preferred
