Crowdfunding research intern

We're a startup in the Cal Poly Incubator program building a machine learning app that ranks and sorts action plans. The big idea is that anything someone is trying to achieve has been achieved before by someone else, so let's platform all these action plans (for getting good grades, making friends, managing frustrating administrative stuff, being healthy, finding work...) then sort them to the people for whom they will work (based on demographics, habits, personality, and location). We aim to do all this transparently and benevolently, never charging students. It's a big idea that's gaining traction, but it's complex, and that's where you come in.

Startup work is exciting and fast paced, and there are countless projects that need doing. One important project for the Winter quarter will be researching equity crowdfunding and deciding if the startup should pursue this source of investment.

With this project, you can work side-by-side the the CEO of Trees and gain experience in investor relations. It's also a chance to get real-life experience in a tech startup and—remotely—exposed to the Incubator, the HotHouse, the entrepreneurship community, the consultants and experts who advise the company, and to make a connection at a fast-growing company that could lead to a great job. If you're reading this and are digging it but aren't sure if this one is for you, feel free to reach out to me, as our needs change quickly in startup land.

We have a strong internship program, with 8-10 new interns joining us each quarter. We create flexible projects that allow interns to explore their interests while gaining hands-on experience to build their resume. Internships are for course-credit.

If this internship experience sounds interesting to you, but you're not quite sure if it's the right fit, feel free to reach out to Ally (ally@trees.app) for more info.
