Sr. Tax Analyst – Canada Financial Services (L5) (ID: DAI0000M0V)

Job Overview
A vital team member that assists in minimizing the tax burdens and risks of Daimler Truck Financial Services Canada Corporation by managing and supporting the company's direct and indirect tax functions, including Canadian income tax, GST/HST, PST, and QST compliance. This position also plays a key role in timely responding to indirect tax questions from customer service and technology solution groups. Additional responsibilities include providing support for related audits and implementing tax savings opportunities where applicable.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare Canadian income tax returns and work papers in an accurate and timely manner for all financial service entities. Calculate and remit monthly income tax installments when required. 
  • Work to minimize Canadian taxes and maximize cash flow.
  • Timely prepare and file monthly and quarterly Canadian GST/HST, PST, & QST tax returns and remittances for financial services entities.  
  • Monitor, trouble shoot, and reconcile direct and indirect tax accounts with business activity and tax compliance. Ensure tax payments are made on a timely basis to avoid interest and penalties.  
  • Coordinate and assist in tax audits, including meeting with auditors and responding to auditor information requests.
  • Communicate tax law changes relating to financial services to management and recommend appropriate actions to limit exposures.
  • Serve as the key person in the organization to provide information to other departments within the company regarding Canadian direct and indirect taxes.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements for compliance and tax accounting services.
Qualifications - External
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or a related degree from an accredited college/university OR 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required
  • Ability to effectively communicate with management and outside business advisors and government agencies required
  • Strong understanding of Canadian Corporate Income Tax, Goods and Services Tax, Provincial Sales Tax, and Harmonized Sales Tax required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, multi-task oriented with a strong customer focus, and exceptional organizational skills required

Typical Minimum Experience Preferred (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • 5-7 years of related experience preferred
  • Master's degree in Taxation
  • Previous experience with CorpTax software and SAP
  • Motor vehicle leasing industry experience preferred
  • 2 years in public accounting preferred
  • CPA Preferred
