Mental Health Therapist

Therapists at Rivendell provide individual, group and family therapy for their assigned patients. Session time typically ranges from 45 to 60 minutes.

Therapists attend treatment team meetings with psychiatrists and related disciplines to discuss overall patient progress. Treatment teams meet between one to five times per week, depending on the unit you are assigned.

Therapists complete all paperwork, including session notes and treatment plans, within regulated time limits ranging from 24 to 72 hours from time of service. Therapists are expected to update treatment plans at both regularly scheduled intervals and in the event of a sudden or important change in patient treatment progress.

Therapists participate in a weekend rotation where they work approximately every 10th to 12th weekend with the preceding Thursday and following Tuesday off as compensation days. During these weekend shifts, therapists will assist the primary weekend clinician with intake assessments and group therapy coverage on various units.

Therapists take case assignments and other duties from the Director of Clinical Services. Therapists are expected to check emails and other communication streams for clinical assignments and other relevant clinical updates.

The overall work environment for therapists at Rivendell is fast-paced with a variety of presenting clinical concerns and populations. Therapists have the opportunity to work with a variety of disciplines, including psychiatric, case management, and nursing. Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the overall desire to provide supportive teamwork and quality patient care are expected.
