Data Science Engineering Intern

Department Overview
PG&E is bolstering wildfire prevention and emergency response efforts, putting in place new and enhanced safety measures, and hardening its electric system to help reduce wildfire risks and keep customers safe. A key tool for wildfire mitigation is the Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) Team, designed to de-energize portions of PG&E’s system during extreme weather conditions, to mitigate the risk of catastrophic fire.
Position Summary

The successful candidate will support the PSPS team by running key queries on past data and performance and performing analysis to support data driven risk reduction. This position will be responsible for maintaining several internally built models and building tools within Palantir’s Foundry application to pull data and combine tables to build datasets that enable the team to make risk informed decisions.

The chosen candidate will be a self-starter, capable of working autonomously and developing out of the box solutions in a fast-paced environment. The PSPS team was established in 2018 and is relatively new to PG&E - we are looking for future leaders to develop the next iterations of the program while continuing to reduce wildfire risk and mitigating the effects of PSPS on our customers.

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $18.43 to $35.11
