Information Security Risk & Controls Intern

The Information Security Risk & Controls Intern is responsible for working with the InfoSec team to assess, analyze, and manage information security risks within the organization.  In addition, the selected Intern will work to enhance and streamline the current process and reporting status of all risk management related activities. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with security policies, standards, and regulations.

 

This position is part of the IT Information Security department and will be Remote.  At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.

 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work with the InfoSec team to assess, analyze, manage, and communicate information security risks within the organization. 
  • Work to enhance and streamline the current processes, tracking and reporting status of all risk management related activities.
  • Conduct information security risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities, threats, and risk to the organization’s information and systems.
  • Maintain a constant focus on risk methodologies that reduce and mitigate cyber-risks using industry-based processes, tools, and metrics.
  • A final project will be assigned to intern in the information security risk assessment domain that will help mature the program. 

 

The essential requirements of the job include: 

  • Working towards a Bachelor of Sciences in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Relevant information security industry knowledge is a plus.
  • High level understanding of security frameworks, standards, best practices (e.g. NIST, CIS, ISO 27001) and security assessment tools and methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
