Smart Start Suffolk Administrative Assistant (Intern) Unpaid

The Suffolk County Smart Start Suffolk Initiative is seeking an intern to assist with the day to day functions within the department.

Students: Prior to accepting a hiring offer for this - or any - unpaid internship, contact your college or university's internship coordinator or academic advisor to determine if this internship satisfies the curricular requirements of your program, so that you may earn academic credit in lieu of pay.

●     A self-motivated and independent worker 

●     Prepared to apply strong organizational skills

●     Effective at managing time and prioritizing goals 

●     Capable of processing and disseminating extensive and detailed information

●     Comfortable receiving tasks from multiple team members

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

●     Assist with meeting preparation (document preparation, room setup, meet/greet, etc.)

●     Create social media posts in Canva

●     Assist with scheduling virtual and in person meetings and events 

●     Help staff and coordinate department events as needed

 

REQUIREMENTS:     

●     Excellent verbal and written communication skills

●     In-depth application of Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, etc.) and Zoom

●     Strong time and project management Skills (knowledge of Asana a plus)

●     Enrolled in college (Interests in Early Childhood Ed, Child Psychologist/Counselor, Public Health/Social Work preferred)

 

*Intern will work approximately 50% in the office and 50% remotely

*Must be available minimum 12 hours/week
