Biochip R&D intern

The Biochip R&D intern is responsible for performing and analyzing real time PCR, Biochip, and ddPCR for assay and product development. This is an opportunity to work closely with scientists to support development and regulatory approval of our novel molecular diagnostics test, with the aim to deliver life-saving solutions to inpatient and intensive care unit use cases.

 

This position is part of the Biochip R&D and will be located in Sunnyvale CA.  At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.

 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Gain hands-on experience utilizing innovative technology to develop strategies for complex in vitro diagnostic assays.
  • Carry out laboratory experimentation in support of assay development.
  • Analyze and present data internally in the form of technical reports and presentations.
  • Actively contribute to a team setting within the laboratory to increase efficiency, solve problems, and provide innovation support.

 

The essential requirements of the job include: 

  • Undergrad or graduate student, majoring in science or related field  
  • Ability to work safely is a top priority. Ensures that work areas are safe, neatly organized and in compliance.
  • Must have scientific laboratory bench work experience (pipetting, following written protocols, lab safety). Ability to work with basic laboratory instrumentation, as well as operates computer-based applications utilized in a laboratory environment. 

 

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience handling microbiological and clinical specimens and working in a BSL-2 environment.
  • Real time PCR or ddPCR experience.
