Development Security Operations software intern

The DevSecOps Software Intern is responsible for supporting implementation of the continuous integration and monitoring of product vulnerabilities during the development. The internship role will provide a great opportunity to have a hands-on experience with product security support and enhancement as part of Cepheid’s leading molecular diagnostics product line. The DevSecOps Software Intern will participate directly with development teams and work with key cross-functional roles including product security, software development, software quality, regulatory affairs, and business team members in a leading molecular diagnostics organization.

 

This position is part of the Product Security team and will be hybrid located in Sunnyvale, CA.  The intern will also work closely with Product Security team members at Danaher India Development Center (IDC), Bangalore, India.  At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.

 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work with product security and software developers to support Cepheid’s software security process and practice within the SDLC culture.
  • Perform or support vulnerability scanning, software composition analysis, and security risk assessment processes as part of Cepheid’s CI/CD pipeline.
  • Assist with product software security assessments and source code reviews against the applications.
  • Develop or update software security documentation for on-market products and new development projects.
  • Support the identification, analysis, and prioritization of security vulnerabilities.
  • Provide comprehensive day-to-day operational support with the oversight of the Product Security team.

 

The essential requirements of the job include: 

 

  • Knowledgeable of DevSecOps principles and software development lifecycle processes and deliverables.
  • Familiarity of software security methods, security problems, and troubleshooting of security incidents.
  • Familiarity with programming languages like Python, Java, and JavaScript.
  • Good understanding on static code analysis, security vulnerability identification and analysis.
  • Actively enrolled in a bachelor or graduate degree program in an accredited university or college with a focus on Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field.

 

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience or working knowledge in:

  • DevSecOps toolkits - Jenkins, Artifactory, Jira, Veracode, OWASP ZAP, Black Duck, Coverity or comparable technologies.
  • Cloud security frameworks (AWS cloud).
  • Knowledge of latest risk assessment techniques, threat modeling approaches, cybersecurity threats, and best practices in DevSecOps.
