R&D Electrical Engineering Intern

The R&D Electrical Engineering Intern is responsible for supporting design verification activities within the R&D Electrical Engineering organization. As an intern, you'll be part of a team developing rapid groundbreaking solutions for the world’s most complex health challenges, in which you will learn about the design of instruments for molecular diagnostics – from ideation and innovation through development and delivery of life-changing advancements in healthcare-associated infections, sexual health, critical infectious disease, virology and oncology applications.

 

This position is part of the R&D Electrical Engineering department and will be located in Sunnyvale, CA in a hybrid work arrangement.  At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.

 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Apply electrical engineering principles in the design and analysis of components, sub system and system.
  • Design and set up experiments, collect data, and write test protocol and qualification reports.
  • Diagnose and investigate the root-cause of part, assembly or design failures using proven Danaher system for problem solving.

 

The essential requirements of the job include:  

 

  • A Junior or Senior currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering  or Applied Physics
  • Course work on electronics circuit designs, computer programming and digital systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required

 

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Walking or standing within office area is routinely required; bending, kneeling, and stretching may be required for the operation of equipment
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and/or optical components
