Biochip R&D Assay Intern

The Biochip R&D intern is responsible for qualifying primer and probe designs and sample preparation for the Biochip assay development. The candidate will have the opportunity to work with and learn from a multi-functional group including Bioinformatics, Engineering, and other interdisciplinary groups to design, define, and test various aspects of the assay.

 

This position is part of the Biochip Assay Dev and will be located in Sunnyvale (on-site). At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.

 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Understand the project scope and become familiar with the GeneXpert Biochip systems.
  • Complete primer and surface probe qualification for multiplexing.
  • Support preparation of test materials (various microbial stains)

 

The essential requirements of the job include: 

 

  • Undergrad in senior year (plan to pursue graduate school preferred) or master’s students majoring in biology, chemistry, or related fields.
  • Basic molecular biology techniques: nucleic acid extraction and qPCR.
  • Microbiology research experiences in academic or industry setting (strongly preferred).
