Air Resources Technician II
This position is limited-term for 12 months and may be extended to 24 months or become permanent.
This is an intermittent position that may work up to a maximum of 1500 hours per calendar year.
Did you know that personal care products such as hair spray, as well as disinfectants, household cleaners, and other consumer products when taken collectively are significant sources of smog-forming volatile organic compound (VOC), toxic air contaminant, and greenhouse gas emissions? Consumer products emit more VOC than all on-road mobile sources combined and are projected to become California's leading VOC source in the years ahead. Would you like to help improve air quality and protect public health by helping develop and implement innovative strategies to address these ubiquitous emissions sources?
The Implementation Section of the Air Quality Planning and Science Division is seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented Air Resources Technician to join a team of professionals who develop and implement CARB's consumer products regulations.
Under direction of the Air Resources Supervisor I, the incumbent will:
- Assist staff in implementing existing regulations, including alternative control plans, innovative product exemptions, and product determination.
- Assist staff in updating the consumer product emission inventory, including collecting, reviewing, and analyzing a large quality of sales data and survey data.
- Provide rulemaking support, including helping with outreach to consumer product manufacturers and other interested stakeholders, organize public workshops, identify innovative regulatory approaches, and develop rulemaking materials.
- Help implement the California Clean Air Act Fee Program, including evaluating reported VOC emissions, and processing fee letters and other materials.
You will find additional information about the job in the Duty Statement.
