Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Intern to join our Global Facilities and Engineering (GFE) Department located at our Ridgefield Campus. As an Intern, you will assist the Security team within GFE in ensuring a safe and secure work environment on the Ridgefield campus. The position holder will assist in developing, implementing, managing, and revising Security programs and procedures to ensure protection of company employees and assets. The position holder will also work with, manage and maintain and improve security systems and databases, and will analyze and organize security related data to produce metrics for the identification of issues and to develop opportunities for improvement.

Duties & Responsibilities

This position assists in the response and management of site security-related issues and incidents, conducting investigations and defining corrective actions. The position holder will assist in directly interfacing with the contract security guard force when needed. In addition, this position holder will assist in managing all security and transportation aspects of on-site events and other issues when they arise. This incumbent will provide support to BI Security Personales with Crisis Management activities for the business unit.

  • The incumbent will assist when reviewing, revising, and maintaining security programs and procedures for the Ridgefield site. This individual will interface with the Associate Director of Security, the Security Specialist, the Security Analyst, and the Contract Security Guard Force to communicate and support the implementation of program changes as needed. This position will assist in periodically reviewing the implementation of programs and procedures, and training the contract security guard force on programs and procedures changes as needed.
  • Supports the Security Program by identifying threats and risks to company personnel and assets, and by recommending and implementing measures to mitigate threats at the site. Supports BI Security’s response to security incidents and issues, conducting investigations, recommends corrective actions and following up to ensure completion.
  • Supports the development of solutions and modifications to security systems in order to implement strategic changes at the direction of the Associate Director of Security and the Security Specialist. Systems include access control, video monitoring, and physical key management systems, and other systems needed to maintain security of employees and company property. Supports Security management in working with stakeholders to ensure processes are robust and data accuracy and integrity is maintained.
  • Assists in providing security support and coordination to all departments, including Human Resources, for sensitive issues as required. Aids in ensuring procedures are in place to provide security support to emergency response organizations when needed.
  • Supports BI Security in the coordinating the Crisis Management Team including response planning, team meetings, training, and exercises. Ensure all Crisis Management Plans are current.

Requirements

  • Must be a current undergraduate, graduate or advanced degree student in good academic standing
  • Student must be enrolled at a college or university for the duration of the internship
  • Overall cumulative minimum GPA from last completed quarter/semester 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) preferred
  • Major or minor in related field of internship
  • Undergraduate students must have completed at least 12 credit hours at current college or university
  • Graduate and Advanced Degree students must have completed at least 9 credit hours at current college or university

Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:

  • Candidates should have strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, including the ability to influence.
  • Analytical skills including the ability to analyze data.
  • Must have strong computer skills, specifically MS Excel, Powerpoint, Word, OneNote, and Outlook. This position may be involved with programs that are required to comply with Local, State and Federal laws and regulations.
  • Experience with computerized security systems such as access control, visitor management and/or video management systems is a plus.

Compensation Data

This position offers an hourly rate typically between $20/ hour and $29/ hour commensurate to the level of degree program in which an applicant is actively enrolled. For an overview of our benefits please click here.
