Archery Instructor at Summer Camp

About us: Morry's Camp is a residential summer camp located in the Catskill Mountains of New York. Morry's Camp is the summer portion of the year round youth-development organization, Project Morry. We believe that summer camps provide youth with a unique opportunity for growing independence, self-discovery, and skill building. Our mission is to provide our youth access to these opportunities regardless of economic status.

About the position: Our archery instructor spends the majority of their day planning and teaching archery lessons to kids between the ages of 9-16. When they are not teaching, they support a group of counselors in taking care of their group of campers. We are looking for someone who has extensive experience with archery, and is passionate about teaching and working with campers. The archery instructor should have safety as their top priority, as well as ideas for teaching archery in an accessible and fun way. Demonstrated competency in archery is required. Experience teaching archery is a plus, but is not required. Experience working with youth is a plus, but is not required. This individual will need to be receive the certification required by the ACA to teach archery, and camp will pay for the certification.

Responsibilities and expectations:

• Create and facilitate archery lessons, ensuring that the content is accessible to campers based on their age group and ability.
• Support the daily routines established for their group.
• Communicate with counselor team and leadership consistently and effectively.

Compensation: Counselors live on site for the duration of their contracted dates. Room and board is included in salary. Applicant should be available between June 14th through August 10th. The salary for this position is $2,250 plus $200 for completing the season.
