English as a Second Language Teacher (ESL)

Salary:

  • $58,284 - $80,375

Work Duration: 

  • Nine (9) months
  • 183 day
  • 7.5 hours per day
  • ESSER FUNDED position which will be funded through May 2024.

Responsibilities:

Plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential, including but not limited to:

  • Provide instruction in English that meets state and federal standards
  • Adapt curriculum to provide individual, small group, and/or remedial instructions to meet student needs
  • Establish supportive relationships with students
  • Engage students in meaningful, developmentally appropriate, real world discussions and learning activities that enable language acquisition and development
  • Utilize periodic student growth benchmarks to determine ongoing language needs and support
  • Collaboratively work with administrators, teachers and families of English Learning students to communicate and develop students' progress in English language acquisition

Certification / Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree 
  • Must be Louisiana certified; type `A,' `B' OR `C' - OR-  LEVEL 1, 2 OR 3
  • Hold or be eligible for ESL (English as a Second Language) certification
  • Fluency in Spanish communication PREFERRED
