Installation Scheduling Manager

This position is based in Lead, South Dakota.  

As an Installation Lead for Fermilab’s Long-Baseline Neutrino Facility (LBNF) and Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) Project you will lead a team to aid in the installation of underground particle detectors at the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF) in Lead, South Dakota. This project team will construct one of the largest proposed neutrino experiments in the world over the next several years. The role will include but not be limited to overseeing the fabrication, operation, testing, calibration, repairs and modifications of diverse equipment, system and devices. 

 

YOU WILL:   

  • Act as interface between project managers, engineering, installation operations, procurement and inventory control / logistics to assign work to various trades from electrical, mechanical, pipefitting/plumbing to HVAC consistent with the planning
  • Utilize the planning process to assure compliance with internal & external stakeholders
  • Generate daily/weekly/monthly schedule for installation to follow by aggregating information from the installation, engineering and services teams
  • Facilitate daily/weekly/monthly meetings with multiple teams for workday planning to coordinate the different installation teams
  • Assist in developing and reviewing the resource loaded work schedules
  • Be part of a team that reviews work packages for both internal and external contractors
  • Integrate Environment, Safety, Health, and Quality (ESH&Q) into work planning
  • Review of sub-contractor schedules from the work packages for alignment with overall work schedule
  • Ensure that the planned and scheduled work has the appropriate approvals for release
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Communicate material and personnel needs to installation managers, logistics manager and services manager

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable Engineering discipline from an ABET accredited institution with 3+ years of engineering experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills to enable effective interaction with stakeholders
  • Possess basic project scheduling skills in developing specifications and documents for projects that involve concepts from inception to completion.  Knowledge of project management and earned value management concepts preferred.
  • Ability to use scheduling software, preferably MSProject or Primavera P6
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet challenging deadlines
  • Experience working in matrixed groups and teams on large projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with project teams in a manufacturing, industrial, or research setting
  • Experience with using a document management system
  • Has the ability to use MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Ability to use a computer for writing reports, and creating presentations
  • Has the ability to work within a team multicultural atmosphere

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Mental concentration, Sitting, Standing, Tight Work Schedule, Visually Demanding, working underground
  • Willing to travel domestically and/or internationally as required
  • Able to work outside normal work hours as needed.  Position is normally schedule for daytime M-F
  • Must be able to possess a class C drivers license
