Project Manager

Vertiv is hiring a Project Manager in Anderson, SC to support key customer accounts for our data center and critical infrastructure clients.  This person will perform non-technical project completion using an internal customer perspective, typically from initiation through delivery. The Project Manager coordinates cross-functional teams through meetings and progress measurement activity which bring distinct, specific projects to completion both on time and within budget. The Project Manager has no direct reports but will manage people indirectly. The Project Manager manages specific projects that have a distinct beginning and end and requires people and resource management through others; part of cross-functional team required to complete the project. The Project Manager is responsible to lead process, tool, training and governance for critical infrastructure and hyperscale data center projects incorporating a range of Vertiv's Switchgear & Busbar Business.  The Project Manager is responsible to focus on establishing relationships and processes from pre-sales through equipment commissioning to ensure a smooth repeatable process is established, implemented and followed.  The Project Manager requires effective communication with all levels of multiple organizations & at times, be required to manage conflict effectively and professionally and resolve issues in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Works with the Project Management Office (PMO) to help define and develop methods and procedures and institute best practices. Ensures all procedures are enforced on projects.
  • Creates the project scope of work in conjunction with the technical and sales teams defining responsibilities as well as other stakeholders. Utilizes standard Project Management tools to conduct the project effectively, achieving quality, financial and schedule targets.  Works closely with the Field Services Division to ensure understanding and communication of the schedule, budget and scope. Visit the site periodically to establish relationships with SM and key contractor and customer personnel.
  • Coordinates with Order Management, plant production, engineering, Logistics, contractors, Services and warranty  groups throughout the project, escalating potential conflicts to avoid  impact to the customer, and balance large projects demand with flow business.
  • Escalate and create urgency around any issues that would impede the success of the project. Ensure that issues are resolved in a timely manner and communicated to the stakeholders. Monitor team schedules and ensure coordination of activities on the critical path. Coordinate the team to implement short term and long-term resolution.
  • Follow Reporting and tracking programs to ensure the project is on target for quality, schedule and cost targets. Establish project reporting and KPI's. Document meeting notes, action items and follow through to completion.
  • Be proactive in establishing a culture of Safety for each project. Host periodic safety meetings to ensure the project is always considering safety first.

Requirements and Education

  • 1- 3 years of project management experience required.  Construction project management is a plus. Internship experience taken into consideration. 
  • Must have ability to communicate effectively, including conducting effective meetings and presentations.
  • Must be able to work in a matrixed environment.
  • Knowledge of construction, electrical and mechanical contracting is a plus.
  • Critical infrastructure and data center expertise with UPS, thermal, battery and monitoring is a plus.
  • Knowledge of engineering, manufacturing processes, data center infrastructure and commissioning processes is a plus.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree required.  MBA preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.
