COMPUTER SCIENTIST - ENGINEER - RESEARCH ENGINEER - ROBOTIC AUTONOMY

Who We Are:

The Intelligent Systems Division develops automated solutions for commercial and government clients in multiple domains including transportation (traffic management, connected automated vehicle), manufacturing robotics, medical prognostics, and communication standards.

Objectives of this Role:

  • Serve as a researcher and software developer on teams developing hardware and software solutions for robotics and automation technology areas such as connected and automated vehicles (CAVs) and unmanned ground and aerial vehicles (UGVs, UAVs).
  • Develop, test, and deploy hardware and software systems that utilize advanced wireless communication technologies [dedicated short-range communication (DSRC), cellular vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X), 5G, etc.] to improve transportation safety and mobility.
  • Develop, test, and deploy hardware and software systems related to perception, localization, navigation, and/or control for vehicles systems with varying degrees of autonomy (e.g., driverless cars, automated off-road ground vehicles, UAS, etc.).
  • Develop novel concepts and technologies related to multi-vehicle/multi-system coordination and cooperation (e.g., platooning, swarm, etc.)2.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Participate in all phases of the robotic system development cycle, including requirements definition, hardware/software systems design, implementation, testing, and integration
  • Develop software systems to enable robotic vehicle applications
  • Support configuration, testing, and deployment of robotic system hardware and software systems and applications in real-world settings
  • Initiate advanced research and development programs, interact with clients, make technical presentations, prepare technical reports

Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelors, Masters, or a PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Aero Engineering also will be considered with related academics or experience
  • 0-1 years: Bachelors candidates must have relevant academic coursework and project experience and/or internship experience. MS and PhD candidates must have relevant research experience.
  • 0-5 years: Candidates with industry experience must have relevant R&D or product development experience related to CAVs, UGVs, and/or UAS
  • Strong systems engineering and software development skills and experience (preferably object-oriented programming language, such as C++ and/or C#)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well individually and as a member of a technical project team
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required

Special Requirements:

Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
