Campus Ambassador

Apply to be Campus Ambassador for Teach For America’s recruitment team. As an ambassador, you’ll play a key role in helping recruit the leaders that will shape the political, economic, and social future of our nation. Campus ambassadors elevate Teach For America’s presence and brand health on campus through marketing, awareness building events, and identifying competitive student leaders who would be strong candidates to join the Teach For America corps. Working in partnership with TFA’s full time recruitment staff and other campus ambassadors (if applicable), they will use their strong communication, marketing, research, and problem solving skills to reach ambitious goals aimed toward expanding opportunity for all

The Organization

There are more than 16 million children growing up in poverty in the U.S., and less than 10 percent of them will graduate from college. These statistics are not a reflection of our children’s potential; we know that children growing up in poverty can and do achieve at the highest levels. Rather, these statistics reflect the systemic lack of access and opportunity for children in low-income communities.

 

Teach For America’s (TFA) mission is to find, develop, and support a diverse network of leaders committed to expanding opportunity for children from classrooms, schools, and every sector and field that shapes the broader systems in which schools operate. Primary Responsibilities 

  • BRAND HEALTH - Increase the current state of the Teach For America brand on campus and develop campus strategies and execution that will positively impact the brand overtime.
  • MARKETING - Manage and execute a high-visibility marketing and publicity campaign, which may include hanging posters and flyers; tabling in high-traffic areas; executing effective email campaigns; and securing media coverage in campus publications, on websites, and on campus radio stations
  • EVENTS - Plan, advertise, and execute highly-attended TFA and co-sponsored events on campus
  • PRESENTATIONS - Schedule and/or execute TFA class and student organization presentations throughout the year to build brand awareness and educate audiences on TFA
  • NETWORKING - Identify top students and organizations on campus throughout the year and support them throughout their recruitment process alongside the recruiter
  • DATA MANAGEMENT - Strategic data gathering, input, and management in Salesforce to improve outreach and recruitment efforts

Qualifications:

Work Demands

  • Ability to work a minimum of 5-10 hours a week (depending on campus) on a consistent basis
  • Must be able to attend weekly team meetings and check-ins with manager

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to balance multiple initiatives at once, tracking tasks and project plans to meet goals and timelines
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Strong professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Record of achievement in academics, leadership, and/or employment
  • High level of initiative and personal responsibility
  • Detail oriented and results-driven

Requirements

  • Must be an undergraduate at a college or university with available positions
  • Strong interest in pursuing Teach For America as a post-graduate career opportunity

Benefits and Hourly Rate

  • Ambassadors will be paid hourly at the state minimum wage.
