Staff Engineer

Terracon is looking for a Staff Engineer to help grow our Engineering Team. This position will specialize in the design, investigation, and rehabilitation of building structures and building enclosures. This position will support our existing offices located in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia.

We focus on providing design and consulting services and typically work directly as part of a team with Architects, Owners, Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical engineers. Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Work under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
  • Participate in pre-task planning to establish safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects.
  • Assist in developing the scope of work for routine projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of Drawings, Specifications, and Inspection reports.
  • Analyze data and perform engineering calculations and analysis for PE review.
  • Work closely with senior-level project manager and Professional Engineer of Record to gain project management and engineering experience.
  • Make design recommendations, adaptations and modifications for review and consideration by the Professional Engineer of Record.
  • Assist in developing the scope of work for routine projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, specifications, and other project related documents.
  • Prepare work scope, proposals and reports and plans investigations for approval by senior-level professionals.
  • Interact with client and project team in developing scope of services and communicating project progress.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering preferred.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) certification required.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
