Georgetown Preparatory School ESL Teacher

ANNOUNCEMENT FOR ESL TEACHERS FOR THE SUMMER ENGLISH PROGRAM

Employment Dates: June 24th- August 2nd, 2024

You will need to report to campus before classes begin for onboarding requirements. Please note that teachers should not plan to leave before Graduation at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, August 2nd.

The Georgetown Preparatory School Summer English Program (SEP) is a coeducational boarding program that offers courses for advancement, enrichment and remediation in English as a Second Language. SEP students are 14-17 years old and come from 20 different countries around the world. The teaching position is open to recent qualified college graduates, graduate students, and people currently teaching. ESL teaching experience is preferred.

Classes will be held from 9:00am to 3:00pm during the week. Your lesson plan will be reviewed by the Director of International Programs. You will be expected to submit a course summary and detailed review of each student’s progress midway through the program, and a final review. You may be asked to join on weekend outings and educational field trips with your class. A schedule of recreational and social activities supplements the English training. You may be asked to drive students. We provide minibus training on campus, provided you have a valid license.

All weekend activities are organized and primarily chaperoned by the counselors. These outings include DC museum visits, lake outings, mini golf, water parks, professional baseball games, fireworks, cookouts, ice skating, embassy tours, monument tours etc.

Georgetown Preparatory School is located on a beautiful 95-acre campus just outside Washington, D.C. Our campus is close to the Grosvenor Metro stop on the red line. The campus includes an indoor swimming pool, weight room, gym, basketball courts, tennis courts, and a golf course available for use. Applicants should have a commitment to international students and boarding school life.

Salary is commensurate with experience. Room and board can be provided. It is not essential to speak a foreign language.
