EHS Specialist

EHS SPECIALIST (Occupational Safety)

 

Reports to: Human Resources Sr. Director

Location: Dalton, GA

Classification: Salary Exempt

 

SUMMARY 
The EHS Specialist is responsible for providing support to the Human Resources Team for Onboarding and Occupational Safety and Health.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with employee relations and investigations, policy administration and keep current with applicable employment and safety laws.
  • Responsible for identifying hazardous workplace conditions.
  • Work with Supervisors to ensure all employees are aware of the dangers and hazards of the job and are well trained on how to work safely.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations and ensures necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines. Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and all other applicable agency standards.
  • Maintain Human Resource and Safety Information System records.
  • Provide training to employees in both HR and Safety related topics.
  • Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are complying.
  • Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster a positive attitude toward Company goals.
  • Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relation issues.
  • Ensure strong open communication channels exist between operations and management.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • On-site management and systems related to ESH introduction and operation.
  • Perform various licenses and responsibilities for government office requirements.
  • Safety trainings (regular, new, and special), safety accident prevention activities and improvement, risk assessment, operation of safety culture settlement program.
  • Conduct symbiotic cooperation programs, regular meetings, and joint safety checks.
  • ISO 14001/45001 and OHSAS 18001 management.
  • Adhere to the Health & Safety procedures
  • Adhere to the federal and local environmental safety and health policies.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of Hanwha Q CELLS.
  • Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned by management.
  • Manage workers compensation, including annual renewal process and workers compensation audit.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree in related fields
  • 2+ years of experience Human Resources with Safety R&R
  • Ability to communicate at all levels both verbally and written
  • Advanced PC skills to include Excel and Presentation
  • Flexibility to adapt to different tasks
  • Awareness of Health and Safety
  • Eye for detail and quality
  • Must be able to communicate effectively within the team
  • Able to tolerate a fast-paced work environment in areas that are not climate controlled
  • Assertive, able to cope with pressure, a team player
  • A self-motivated and driven team player
  • Proactive approach toward various issues
  • Spanish and English both written and verbal.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to stand and walk the production area throughout the workday
  • Reaching, pushing, pulling, or lifting as required within limits set by Hanwha Q CELLS USA, Inc.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in related fields
  • Experience in assembly and/or manufacturing environment
  • High level of work ethic toward improving organizational culture
