Our funding comes from a diverse array of bilateral and multilateral development agencies, foundations, corporations, and individuals.

The Asia Foundation's Evaluation and Learning Unit (ELU) team seeks a Junior Associate (JA) to work for our San Francisco, CA office during the summer 2024 program period from June 24, 2024 – September 13, 2024. 

During the 12-week program, the JA will: 

SCOPE OF WORK:

  1. Support the development of the Foundation's emerging approaches to impact reporting, working in close collaboration with a country office, ELU staff, and other internal stakeholders. 
  2. Support the development and delivery of Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) capacity development for country office and program staff. 
  3. Provide MERL support to field-based projects working in the areas of strengthening governance, gender equality and social inclusion, environmental resilience, economic opportunity, and/or international cooperation. Support may include contributing to the design of MERL frameworks, fielding MERL technical questions, providing data visualizations, among other MERL related functions.
  4. Contribute to internal staff collaboration spaces including the ELU Learning Lab on SharePoint, MERL Monthly Newsletter through Mailchimp, and the MERL Community of Practice on Microsoft Teams. Contributions will include sourcing appropriate MERL resources and drafting new content for these platforms. 
  5. Support the development of TAF's organizational learning approach by assisting with developing MERL minimum standards and project technical close-out.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

The position for the Douglas K. Bereuter Program for Junior Associates in Asian Affairs is expected to be very competitive. We are seeking talented, high-energy individuals who will benefit from their affiliation with the Foundation and contribute to the organization.

CANDIDATES MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Received a master's degree within the past two years.  In addition, to be considered, a candidate must have completed and obtained this degree prior to the beginning of the program period.  The summer 2024 program period is June 24, 2024 – September 13, 2024.  
  • Completed graduate studies in areas related to international relations, international development, public administration, public policy, law, anthropology, political science, economics, women's empowerment, and/or sociology, with work experience in Asia preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in monitoring and evaluating programs, including designing M&E plans, theories of change, logic models, and other MEL frameworks.
  • Demonstrated research and evaluation skills using quantitative, qualitative, and/or mixed methods, preferred.
  • Authorization to legally work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Great organizational skills.
  • Great computer skills.
