Junior Associate- Strategic Partnerships

Junior Associate- Strategic Partnerships Unit

San Francisco, CA (Hybrid)

Please apply by June 2, 2024

In an increasingly complex and interconnected world, Asia plays a crucial global role.  Would you be excited at the prospect of employing your knowledge and skills to improve lives, expand opportunities, and help societies flourish across this dynamic region? You could have this opportunity at The Asia Foundation.

The Asia Foundation is a nonprofit international development organization committed to improving lives and expanding opportunities across Asia and the Pacific. Informed by 70 years of experience and deep local knowledge, our work is focused on governance, climate action, gender equity, education and leadership, inclusive growth, and international cooperation. We work in more than 20 countries through our 17 permanent country offices and programs across Asia and the Pacific, supported by a headquarters in San Francisco and an office in Washington, DC. Our funding comes from various bilateral and multilateral development agencies, foundations, corporations, and individuals.

The Asia Foundation's Strategic Partnerships Unit team seeks a Junior Associate (JA) to work for our San Francisco, CA office during the summer 2024 program period from June 24, 2024 – September 13, 2024.

During the 12-week program, the JA will:

SCOPE OF WORK:

The JA will help advance the Foundation's work in several critical programmatic areas which receive funding from private sector donors, including scholarships for women and girls, digital upskilling, workforce readiness and climate resilience. Working cross-functionally with program units, country offices, monitoring, evaluation, and learning, as well as the private sector partnerships team, the JA will support the development of impact and reporting metrics for these programs and thereby contribute to the development of the program strategy. They will also lead the development of tools for tracking impact metrics, donor reporting, and program management. The JA will also support work on proposal development and donor research.

DELIVERABLES:

The JA will develop a "dashboard" and other tools and systems for tracking impact metrics related to TAF's scholarship and Future Skills Alliance programs. TAF has several disparate scholarship programs in different countries, funded by various donors, and often with varying focus areas (STEM, secondary, university). The JA will support capturing impact across these programs, telling a cohesive story, and developing shared program management systems to reduce administrative burdens. The creation of this dashboard would additionally support the Foundation's Future Skills Alliance programs, which would similarly benefit from developing these tools to support the collective impact model, which receives funding from multiple donors. In collaboration with the Strategic Partnerships team and country office program experts, the JA will also complete work on proposals submitted to corporate and foundation donors in support of environmental conservation and climate resilience programs.

TAKE-AWAY FOR THE JUNIOR ASSOCIATE:

The JA will learn from various TAF colleagues in cross-functional support with program units, country offices, monitoring, evaluation, and learning, as well as the private sector partnerships team, in developing impact and reporting strategies and tools. The JA will learn program design and theories of change and will receive guidance regarding the kinds of impact stories we want to tell our donors. Through designing systems and tools in collaboration with country offices, they will gain insights into the program management considerations of an international NGO.
