The State Water Resources Control Board, Division of Drinking Water, SAFER Drinking Water Section, has an opening for a Water Resource Control Engineer in the Southern Engagement Unit.  This position is currently located at 464 W. 4th St. Rm 437, San Bernardino, CA 92401 but can be filled at one of the following locations:

  • 265 W. Bullard Ave., STE 101, Fresno, CA 93704;
  • 4925 Commerce Dr., STE 120, Bakersfield, CA 93309;
  • 1180 Eugenia PL., STE 200, Carpinteria, CA 93013;
  • 500 North Central Ave. STE 500, Glendale, CA 91203;
  • 2 MacArthur PL., STE 150, Santa Ana, CA 91203;
  • 464 W. 4th ST. RM 437, San Bernardino, CA 92401; or
  • 2375 Northside Dr., STE 100, San Diego, CA 92108

Duties:

The Water Resource Control Engineer (WRCE) will focus on drinking water solutions for Failing and AtRisk public water systems in the SAFER Section – Southern Engagement Unit of the Division of Drinking Water. Responsibilities include but are not limited to consolidation of water systems, appointment of administrators, and continuous updating of the needs analysis and assessment activities for affected water systems in California. This position will primarily focus on efforts related to the Safe and Affordable Funding for Equity and Resilience (SAFER) Program, which supports permanent and sustainable drinking water solutions that ensure all Californians have access to safe, affordable, and reliable drinking water. This position requires the incumbent to maintain consistent and regular attendance; communicate effectively (orally and in writing if both appropriate) in dealing with the public and/or other employees; develop and maintain knowledge and skill related to specific tasks, methodologies, materials, tools and equipment; complete assignments in a timely and efficient manner; and adhere to department policies and procedures regarding attendance, leave, and conduct.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
