Belle Creek provides its students with a rich and immersive learning experience in kindergarten through eighth grade. In addition, K-3 students are taught using the Orton-Gillingham approach, which is direct, explicit, systematic, and sequential instruction incorporating multi-sensory learning. This instruction aligns with the Science of Reading.

What support does BCCS offer teachers and students?

We provide several levels of support for students and teachers by having grade-level instructional paraprofessionals, a Dean of Students for behavior support and coaching, and a Dean of Curriculum and Instruction for mentorship and support. For additional support, we have Gifted & Talented and Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Education Coordinators and a Literacy Specialist. Additionally, we have a Special Education team that includes special service providers for Speech and Language, Occupational and Physical Therapy, and a comprehensive mental health team.

Our building recently expanded, including a state-of-the-art performance stage, art room, life skills classroom, and a science lab. Salary Range:

The hiring salary for a teacher with a bachelor’s degree begins at $55,000/yr to $66,000/yr (11 years of experience).  A teacher with a master’s degree begins at $57,000/yr to $72,000/yr (11 years of experience)

Required Qualifications:

  1. Master's degree in Social Work or related field.
  2. State licensure or certification as a School Social Worker (if applicable).
  3. Experience working with children and adolescents in an educational or clinical setting.
  4. Strong knowledge of child development, counseling techniques, and crisis intervention strategies.
  5. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  6. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and demonstrate cultural competence.
  7. Commitment to promoting equity, inclusion, and social justice in education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bilingual proficiency in languages spoken by the school community.
  2. Experience with trauma-informed practices and restorative justice approaches.
  3. Knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
  4. Experience using data to inform decision-making and measure program outcomes.

Overview: 

As a School Social Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting the social, emotional, and academic success of students in grades K-8. You will work closely with students, families, teachers, and administrators to identify and address various challenges that may impede students' learning and overall well-being. Your primary objective will be to provide counseling, intervention, and advocacy services to promote a positive and inclusive school environment conducive to academic achievement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. Individual Counseling:
    • Conduct individual counseling sessions with students to address social, emotional, and behavioral issues.
    • Develop personalized intervention plans to support students' social and emotional development.
    • Provide crisis intervention and support as needed.
  2. Group Counseling:
    • Facilitate small group counseling sessions to address common challenges such as bullying, conflict resolution, and peer relationships.
    • Implement evidence-based programs to promote social skills, self-esteem, and positive peer interactions.
  3. Family Engagement:
    • Collaborate with families to understand and address students' social and emotional needs.
    • Provide support, resources, and referrals to families to enhance their ability to support their children's academic and emotional growth.
    • Conduct home visits when necessary to strengthen the home-school partnership.
  4. School-wide Programs:
    • Develop and implement school-wide initiatives to promote a positive school climate and prevent bullying, substance abuse, and other social issues.
    • Provide staff training on topics related to social-emotional learning, trauma-informed practices, and cultural competency.
  5. Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
    • Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, school psychologists, and other support staff to develop comprehensive support plans for students with diverse needs.
    • Participate in Student Support Teams (SST) and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings to advocate for students' social and emotional well-being.
  6. Community Outreach:
    • Establish partnerships with community agencies, mental health providers, and social services to coordinate additional support services for students and families.
    • Advocate for the needs of students and families within the broader community.
  7. Other Duties as Assigned.
