The Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board’s General Stormwater Unit has two openings for an Environmental Scientist. The positions location is 3737 Main Street, Suite 500, Riverside CA 92501.

Duties:

The incumbent has responsibility for managing the scientific and technical aspects of the General and Regional Stormwater Permits. This involves working with State and Regional Water Board Stormwater program staff to evaluate the scientific data and perform data analysis. The incumbent is responsible for the implementation and enforcement of the stormwater permits by: conducting scientific analysis of discharger submitted compliance data and reviewing environmental reports, evaluating general stormwater permit compliance by conducting inspections and recommending enforcement actions, and relaying and translating complex scientific concepts and principles of the general stormwater permits to the regulated community and general public.

Candidates must possess essential personal qualifications including integrity, initiative, dependability, good judgment, the ability to work cooperatively with others, and the ability to perform the assigned duties of the class.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
