Insurance Technician

INSURANCE TECHNICIAN

Job Title: Insurance Technician (CO) Salary Grade: Steps 0-6 Work Year: 260 Days, 8 Hrs/Day FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Department: Risk Management and Benefits Reports To: Director of Risk Management and Benefits

PURPOSE: To assist with the management and coordination of all employee insurance programs offered by St. Charles Parish Schools

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist Director of Risk Management and Benefits in development and/or design of employee insurance plans for the purpose of providing maximum coverage to employees within contract specifications.
  • Review weekly and monthly check registers, bank reconciliation, and claims data for the purpose of ensuring accurate insurance information is disseminated and processed.
  • Monitor claim activity and overall performance of all employee insurance options for the purpose of ensuring the District’s Third-Party Administrator (TPA) and contracted benefits enrollment firm are following contractual obligation as well federal guidelines.
  • Monitor responses from Third-Party Administrator (TPA) and contracted benefits enrollment firm relative to employee and retiree claim inquiries for the purpose of ensuring the delivery consistent and high customer service.
  • Acts as a liaison between employees/retirees and insurance companies for the purpose of resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Resolve conflicts with insurance providers for the purpose of verifying eligibility and conveying information to the appropriate parties.
  • Respond to inquiries from a wide variety of stakeholders (employees, retirees, insurance companies, staff, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the smooth and informed operation of the department.
  • Facilitate yearly employee enrollment process for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective insurance enrollment process for all stakeholders.

Work Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 90% sitting, 5% walking, and 5% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
