Student Assistant (Engineering & Architectural)

Under the close supervision of the Supervising Land Surveyor, the incumbent will assist with various Geomatics Branch staff with scanning, field survey, and geographic information systems’ projects in a trainee capacity.

We are seeking candidates who have experience paying close attention to detail, who are independent thinkers; takes initiative, understand organizational details, has an eagerness to contribute in a team-oriented environment, and has the ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.  Candidates with experience or knowledge of Microstation or AutoCAD, ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, web-based mapping, Trimble Business Center, and Microsoft Office Suite are encouraged.  Candidates should be available for the majority of the year.

All applicants for Student Assistant positions must meet the following departmental eligibility requirements:

  1. Enrolled in nine (9) semester/eight (8) quarter units for undergraduate students or six (6) semester/four (4) quarter units for graduate students.
  2. Achieved a 2.0 grade point average in the most recently completed academic term.
  3. Declared a major related to the duties of the advertised position and enrolled in coursework required for that major.

This is a Student Assistant (E&A) position, with a maximum of 1500 hours of work per year.  Proof of application for, or enrollment in, college curriculum preparing for upper division status in an engineering, architectural or landscape architectural curriculum leading to a bachelor’s or advanced degree is required.
